FAQ

While we do like to refer to our audience members as participants, there is no obligation to participate actively in the scenes – although the more you participate, the more you will take away from the experience! YHST recognizes that not everyone is an extravert, and not everyone wants to talk to strangers. That’s why the scenes are designed for some gentle exploration, some listening, and some interaction with our characters – as much as you feel comfortable with. Because let’s face it – you may the one who really wants to check out this immersive experience… or you may be the one who was dragged along. And regardless of which one you are, we want you to have a good time, on your own terms. No pressure!

YHST is feminist in as much as we believe that women’s stories are as interesting, as adventurous, as compelling, and as relevant as men’s stories. We noticed that there was a gap in sharing women’s stories from the Yukon’s past, so we decided to fill it. We are not all women, but we do all like to discover untold stories!

This is not a walking tour. You will need to move from scene to scene, but the distance is no greater than walking from room to room in your home.

There may be some standing and moving about during the scenes, but there are always places to sit if you need.

Yes! The scenes can accommodate mobility devices such as wheelchairs or walkers, but it is better if you let us know that ahead of the show so that we can maximize the space in the scenes for you.

Our initial shows of summer 2024 will be conducted in English-only, with all materials in English-only as well, so if you cannot speak any English you may have trouble fully comprehending what is going on. You may still choose to participate and enjoy the activities and immersion of the experience.

Translators are certainly welcome and would help comprehension for non-English speakers during the show. However, it is important to note that there are multiple activities and interactions going on in a scene at any given time, so it will be difficult for a single translator to assist multiple non-English speakers at the same time. For discounted translator admission, please contact us at info@yukonherstorytours.ca.
